Ceremony Venues and the Future: As the official bridal season winds down and Christmas comes to the fore front, I have a chance to pull back and ponder the past season and gear up for the next. Our company married more than 1000 couples. We married them everywhere but most often in hotels, golf courses, restaurants, halls, vineyards, wineries, parks, backyards, chapels, near waterfalls and on beaches.
Everyone did it their way and in a venue they considered unique. What determines that their venue was unique? Shared interests, where couples met, her dream location and his dream location. What is perfect and romantic to one may be completely bizarre to another. Our choices are influenced by popular opinion, family values, one strong voice in our lives, bridal magazines, television and other media. I do believe with all that I read and see that next year couples will be more authentic, more willing to make a splash, state their opinions and leave their mark. What will Tradition look like in the not so distant future? Where will couples choose to be wed and celebrate?
For those who thought marrying within a church was still the tradition well, those figures have changed too. Only 15% of all weddings are performed in church- the other 85% were performed beyond the church walls.
This year I am expecting to see some new locations: maybe the shopping mall, the IAMS dog show at the EX complete with dog ring bearer, on the set of the Theatre Aquarius. Sounds bizarre. Well the days are coming….tradition is changing.
Watch out as you open that next wedding invitation…..hold your gasping.
I did warn you.
